My Call Ducks Started To Mate..

I've noticed that they started to mate everywhere~! How long until I start getting eggs from the female? And Ive noticed that my runners have been making relitively small eggs recently about half the size of a normal one, anyone know why? One of them even laid an egg the size of a superball!

I have three ducks; 2 Pekin (a female and a male) and 1 Fawn and White Runner. They started mating (constantly, I mean CONSTANTLY) about a month to 6 weeks ago and we just got our first eggs last week. We're averaging about an egg a day. I have no idea if who's laying what (we also have chickens how are pitching in as well--but their eggs are brown), but we're getting so good, if small in size, production.

Re: the mating--it doesn't stop, although it does seem to have slowed a bit. We still feel like we're on the set of a poultry porn show at times. Oy!

I know exactly what you mean! Letting the ducks out in the morning its horrible! Our 2 pekins try to get the female runners, the mallards try to get the female runners... Like they all want the runner except the rouens, calls, and cayugas.... And even then its weird becuase I have noticed that my male rouen will mate the female cayuga.... while the female rouen is trying to get the male rouen... I feel like I watch the soap opera of ducks each day!
