I know this is a long shot, but I hope someone can offer some advice:
I have a male canary who has had an off-and-on wheeze for the last few months. He's been molting too, so I know that could be related. I can't imagine it's an infection - he'd have died by now if it was bacterial, right? I don't know how to tell if it's mites . . . and there's not many avian vets around here so not much hope of getting an actual medical opinion. He gets a premium seed mix, plus mixed lettuce, grated carrot, a slice of orange and fresh water every day, and since he's molting I've been giving him some boiled egg for extra protein. I mostly notice him squeaking when he breathes at night, but he also occasionally just sounds snotty. He seems pretty perky, is eating well, eyes are bright and his feathers look good. BF says I worry too much, but that's my job. Anyone got any ideas? I'd like to do something to help the little guy if I can, but I don't know what to do other than wait it out. Thanks for any help!
