My canibal flock. :-(

Not necessarily. We have vicious vultures in my neck of the woods that I have SEEN kill stray cats. I think they only do it when they're desperate though.

They are currently gone for the season but will be back in a few short weeks. :(

OK, turkey vultures 'cannot' kill, but black vultures will very young or very sick animals, but slim to no chance of attacking 'healthy, aware' animals (my chickens are not always 'aware')- apparently my ornithology teacher didn't bother to quiz the birds what they can do... or maybe they can't read...

we have started using plaster lathe screen from the home depot or lowes in our coops doorways and along the bottom inside of the coop. it has very sharp edges, can be "molded" to an area you are covering, and was cheaper than hardware cloth. it even hurts humans if they rub against it, so we are sure animals will leave the area alone. (also used it on the screen door inside of the coop between nesting area and feed room.

i went outside today and a couple of my 3 week old chicks must have gotten out threw a hole and i seen my big chicken eating it!!! I do not actually know if they killed it. Do i have to worry about them eating chicks now????
