My cat and duck share the same water bowl

My cat and pet duck share the same water bowl and no water what I do they still drink out of the same bowl. I read online that cats have a bacteria that can kill birds. If that is true, how come my duck is still alive all this time?

Cats need clean water. Provide a separate bowl where the ducks can't get to it. Cats shouldn't be housed with ducks.
