My sweet runt of my five is making these cute, but odd-for-a-chicken squeaky grunts like a piglet or a puppy. She's been doing this for.... about... a week maybe? I assume her voice is changing because my others are. My flock is approx 2 1/2 months old. She's always had a baby peep because she was the runt. But I'm wondering if maybe her nostrils are too small or messed up somehow, and that's why her voice sounds that way? I noticed her nostrils do look smaller than my other girls. None of the others sound that squeaky. Am I being paranoid?....or stupid?

The first two pics are my sweet runt. The last pic is of one of my other chicks for comparison. Her nostrils as do the others, look more open. If I am being stupid about this, go right ahead and tell me.

Her voice may be changing from her chick voice to her adult voice, they can sound really odd sometimes while that happens. If you have a video, you can post to youtube and put the link here and we can hear and see and that might answer that question. Does she seem fine otherwise? No issues breathing, eating well, acting normal?

Sorry, I'm not connected with YouTube. I think it stinks you cannot upload a regular video on here. You'll have to take my word for it. I do assume her voice is changing, I just wondered why her voice sounded so squeaky. No problems breathing, no other problems other than her face is almost always red and she'll pant (for a few seconds) in the house when the others don't.
