3.5 week old Fayoumi injured her leg. I'm not sure how, but it happened at some point today, as she was perfectly fine and normal this morning. I went to check on them and top off their food and water before bed, and her leg is all twisted up!

She is bearing weight on it, but it's kind of just flopping around and lands in whatever position it lands in. I got a few pics- they aren't the greatest as she already doesn't like being handled, and I don't want to stress her more if I don't have to. But if there is a certain position or close-up you need to see, let me know and I will get it.

How can I help this poor baby? I already moved her away from the larger chicks, and put 3 banty chicks in with her, because now she's moving slower she's getting stepped on, and my orpingtons especially are a lot larger than she is, I don't want her to get even more hurt. What can I do for her now? Is there a way for me to try and "set" the leg? I do have some vetwrap, but I'm not sure if that's the answer, or how best to get and keep it positioned correctly with it.

My poor baby, it has to hurt so much 😭

I'm not sure how to put it in, it will hurt but it will hurt more the longer it's like that.

It looks like this but it doesn't look like there's much you cam do, I'm sorry.

Thank you for the info, I hope that's not what's going on 💔

I tried manipulating the leg, but I can't feel anything "off" there. I tried straightening it back, rotating it gently and palpating the area. Her knee feels slightly thicker than the other, but that's the only thing I can feel that feels differently than her normal leg. I tried to put some vetrap on her, it helps a little, but the leg won't stay straight still, so it's still just twisted under the wrap 😫

Anyone know if there's something I can do to keep it in proper alignment?

I am not a vet, but she might have a bone deformity called valgus deformity, and the hock tendon may have been ruptured. Another deformity is twisted tibia, and those may progress with growing. I would try to see a vet, in case of a sprain or dislocation that might be treated or set. Here is a good link with pictures of the leg bone deformities mentioned above:

Thank you for the info!! I'm trying to locate a vet that will see her today, but it's good to have some knowledge if I can't get her seen soon.

I was able to find a vet that will see her this evening! It's a bit of driving, but will be worth it if we can get her on the mend. 🤞🏻
