My chicken, Gracie, died tonight.

So sorry for your loss you sound like you were a wonderful parent to Gracie I know you didn’t kill her sometimes we blame ourselves for things we didn’t do when we’re grieving I have had the same experience with a bird I had rescued this year he would not have survived very long in the wild and I am great full that we had those times together but sometimes nature seem cruel and we can’t do anything about it :hugs🥺

My heart hurts for you. I am so grateful for what you did to keep Gracie alive as long as you did. If she had ascites syndrome, it was most likely caused from congestive heart failure. Usually the diagnosis brings a 1-3 year death rate - you gave her much more.

I'm sorry I'm late to welcome you to BYC! :frow

I read your post and then came tears. Like so many said, you did your best to make Gracie's days on earth last longer than she might have. She appreciated that. I honestly don't know if I could do what you did for that length of time. You did wonderful for her. I am so sorry for your loss. Hugs!
