Our necropsy came back that our chicken had avian mycobacteriosis. I'm going to call the lab, but does anyone have experience with this? Do we need to cull our flock? Could I have TB from them?

I had a bird test positive for M. avium subspecies hominissuis last July, and now that I have a couple more birds with respiratory symptoms I'm just now researching it and connecting that this is really bad. I've already read the Merck manual page but since I have a closed home flock of 50 birds, I'd sure appreciate anyone's input for management over culling them all as they are pets. I'll keep looking around for other threads!

Hi Sylver Queen! I’m so sorry you’re facing this. I’m afraid I don’t have much information about managing this disease. We put down our two remaining hens and it was so upsetting. I wonder if your state extension office would have any information or perhaps a local farm vet? We found it hard to find information.I had a bird test positive for M. avium subspecies hominissuis last July, and now that I have a couple more birds with respiratory symptoms I'm just now researching it and connecting that this is really bad.
