My chicken has a black tongue

She’s also not closing her mouth all the way. Seems skinny and pecks at food but doesn’t eat. Help! What is wrong and can we fix it?

Has she been attacked by another chicken and is bleeding? Could she have fractured her beak? Is she able to drink and to eat if you give her some cooked egg or wet feed? Can you try to get a picture of the inside of her beak with a light, and look for any blood or black material that she might have gotten into?

I see where you have had a few predator attacks in the past. Chickens can also get into fights and get pecked, injure themselves on chickenwire and other fencing. Let us know what you can find out.
