I noticed the other chickens pecking at his wattle on one side and his tail feathers. I heard about "burning their beaks." It sounds painful and not neccessary. I will post pictures of the wattle and tail feathers later on today just to make sure its not a diease. I also noticed that this same chicken is missing some wing feathers. Does anyone have any advice for a new chicken owner?

First off, Welcome to BYC
Now back to the chickens... Seperate the injured bird from the rest of the flock. If it is not showing any other signs of distress then I would suggest giving it a dose of vitamins and maybe a bit of broad spectrum antibiotic. You can also use Neosporin or Triple Antibiotic Ointment on the wounds to help them heal. Allow the bird to remain isolated from the rest of the flock until completely healed at which point you can then reintroduce it back to the flock. If you allow it to remain with the flock as is, the others will continue to peck at it and will probably eventually kill it.

Thank you so much. His wattle and tail feathers are getting better now. I was so afraid it was a sign of disease. But its all better now!
