Hello all,
My 6-month old chicken was trying to eat a worm from a fishing hook that a friend had left in our garden when the hook badly injured the muscles under her tongue. This was three days ago. she was bleeding the firs few hours. It doesn't look like she has any open wound but she has trouble swallowing food and some food remains in her mouth. Also, it seems like under her beak between her waddles is swollen and it becomes more noticeable every day. We have tried to feed her with small pieces of dough and sometimes we feed her with plastic syringe as much as possible but she still eats stuff off the ground which remains in her mouth. She looks and acts normal otherwise. She has been laying eggs even after the injury. What do you think we can do and how serious do you think the condition is?
