I have 6 chickens and only one of them is very quite and calm. They are 6 months old and the quite one (peep) I can't tell if they are a boy or girl and hasn't laid eggs and he/she gets lots of attention and likes to stay inside a lot and loves sunflower seeds. Anyone know why my chicken peep is very quite and calm

Hi and welcome to BYC - thanks for joining us. Chickens have personalities - some are calm and friendly - others are mad! You have a pullet. Signs that she may be considering laying include a reddening of the face / comb, submissive squatting (when you approach her), spending some time checking out nest boxes - among others.

More generally, you'll find lots of info in the Learning Centre https://www.backyardchickens.com/newsearch?search=learning+centre and if you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

You may wish to consider joining your state thread as it will put you in touch with other BYC members in your area - https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you

All the best

CTKen is right, some birds are just quieter than others is all. That's a pretty girl you have in your pictures, thanks for sharing the photos with us.

Welcome to BYC!

Peep is gorgeous. I agree with CTKen, except that they have chickenalities

As Diva mentioned, when she lays that first egg she might change her tune.

If you do figure out why Peep is quiet and calm, please share because I would like to try it out on my flock of noisy, spoiled princesses
