Here are the homes for most of our chickens.
This is the first one we built, very heavy. We just put a cinder block under one end to let the current residents out during the day. This has been a temporary home for all of our large girls and our oldest banty girl. Right now home to the Pixie chicks.
Our old man, Drumstick, had issues with our dog getting the girls out of the driveway when we came home one day, so he got relocated to the side yard. His girls, Zues and Roxanne, are bullies, so they got relocated too. We remolded an old rabbit cage so the girls had their usual cardboard box to lay in, they still sleep on top of the gate and terrorize whoever is out, Suzie Q and Little Bit, in the morning before we feed and put them back on their side of the gate.
We built this last december when we had 4 banty babies, one didn't make it to see her new home, and the one responsible stayed in the dog crate and now free roams - Foo Foo didn't realize he was that much bigger than the rest (cornish roo that came home with the banty's), had we got the little tractor done one day earlier we would still have her
Now it is home for Snowball and Ra. Tried to include Little Bit, but they wouldn't accept her, tried rotating out Ra and Snowball, was fine when there was just two, but when all three are in there, Snowball and Ra gang up on Little Bit.
This is our time out day run for bullies, sometimes use it to isolate someone that isn't feeling well during the day. No one stays in here over night because of predator problems.
