HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What do I do when my chicken lays and egg and then starts eating it!?!?!?!?! Is it going to make her sick? So this is what happens:

My chickens make a lot of noise then lay an egg. We don't know they laid until we check on them later in the day. By the time we get to them, they have practically eaten the entire egg!!! I know that the egg shell is good for them but what about the rest of the egg- uncooked. Is it eventually going to kill her insides. I know that sounds crazy but that could happen.

Just wanted to clarify. It is egg eating, egg binding is when the egg is stuck inside the hen and won't or can't come out. They get egg bound, which is also not good. But all the links you gave were for egg eating so I think you just mis-typed.

Yes this is a big deal. You need to stop it before the other hens start doing it to. I don't know exactly but you can do some resource and figure it out. It might be a good idea to separate the one who eats the eggs. But no the raw egg does not hurt them in anyway but is still not good for her to get in the habit

Luckily she hasn't been eating eggs lately. So............................ It could have just been a ''phase''
