This morning when I went out to do my chores I let my chicken out of their coop (I let them go free range sometimes when its pretty outside) and one of them didn't go out of the coop. I didn't think much of it cause I leave the door open and they can come out and in whenever they want. I started throwing some watermelon peices out and she started limping to it. I noticed that and started checking her leg. The only thing I saw wrong was a little cut on her leg. I put her back down and she just layed down on the ground.

I don't know what to do! I picked her up and put her in the nesting box, just for temporary. What do I need to do?

I don't know anything about limping birds, but I would say try to put some hydrogen peroxide on it then put some pain killer cream (nerosporin (sp?)) on it maybe? Then wait and see. That's the best I can say, but I wish I had more of a reason!!

Are you sure hydrogen pyroxide is safe for birds? Will it be able to heal on its own or not?

Did you try the hydrogen peroxide and ointment? I had a chicken start limping today and did not notice anything obvious but my wife said she saw a little cut. If anyone else has some answers please let me know.
