My chicken is suddenly limping :-(

I have a leghorn doing the same thing right now. His hurt leg is immobilized by using an ace wrap just tight enough to keep the leg from moving but not affect his breathing. He is in a laundry basket on a puppy pad with a towel rolled up in a u shape around him to prop him up. food and water in front of him within reach...... I wasnt sure what to do either, but a few days of this and he seems happy. Its the only thing I could think of to do for him... GL!

Sprains and strains are not uncommon, either from a jump too far, landing wonky, or getting a leg or foot caught up somehow and yanking it to get it loose. I would simply keep an eye on her to see how it goes. If it gets worse then crating her for a while to reduce activities may help, and if it continues to progress then I'd start looking for a different cause. Often they will resolve in a few days to a week with nothing done at all. If there is any bruising (bruising will often appear green) or swelling that shows up, that may give a clue as to what happened.
