My chicken tractor

I think people have different reasons for use of the tractor. It's smaller and sometimes works well for people living in urban settings. For me, I only wanted a few birds at first and didn't want to mess us my yard. We move it every couple of days and then the grass doesn't get killed. I think in most tractors the birds are in all the time unless you let them out. That is what we do...ours are out and free range most every evening. Here's ours:

The purpose of the tractor is to be able to let the chickens have new turf to scratch and feed on and to spread the pooh around especially if you have a garden spot (bug terminators) but most of all they have protection from predators while having some freedom of movement. you can move a tractor every day if you wish. We love ours and have built an addition that moves separately so as to allow more area and still have the protection. You feel really bad when something under your protection gets destroyed by a predator
