My chickens are laying less eggs.

Where is your location? It's possible the weather & shorter sunlight. What breed are they? Age? I have 4 BOs, usually get 4 eggs a day but now & then 3, you're not doing anything wrong. It takes a their "egg making system" 20 - 24hrs to make an egg with 12 - 14hrs of light.

I live in Atlantic Canada where there is a lot of snow and harsh winds. I don't let them out at the moment because of the cold I am planning to do this in the summer. I can't leave them out at night though because there are a lot of foxes. I don't know exactly how old they are but the person I bought them from said that they were young chickens. I don't know the breed either because I am quite new to keeping chickens. Thanks for any help.:)

Welcome to BYC. I would guess that the shortened day length is the biggest factor causing the low production. As day length increases, they will resume laying.
