I recently built a coop. It is 4 foot wide by 8 foot long. It also has a ten foot runner out side. Last sunday i bought a araucana rooster , three araucana hens and a black sex link hen. Well i have only gotten one egg since then. It was from the sex link hen. I feed my chickens 16 ounces of feed a day. My feed is half laying pellets and half cracked corn. I keep water by them at all times. Im new to this can someone please help. Thanks

Sometimes when you move or change the feed some chickens take a week or two to get use to the new house/yard or feed trust me and you might want to offer some oyster shell for good egg building

Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan :D

I think chickendeal is right, your hens are likely just disturbed from the move. That is an awful lot of cracked corn - it is high in fat and unbalanced nutritionally.

Hi from Sydney, Australia.

I think the laying pellets should be at least 80% of their daily diet, so suggest you reduce the corn and include more pellets. Also maybe increase the total amount a bit. I leave mine with food all the time which is an easy way to do it. If you want to just do it daily, I believe each chicken would eat around 120g, which in ounces for 5 chickens is more like 21-22 ounces per day. Worth a try, but as the others have said, it can take a couple of weeks or so for them to get over the stress of moving and feel at home in their new surroundings. Egg laying is preparing a family - every animal needs to feel safe and at ease to do that.

All the best
