Just out of curiosity, with new layers will they lay on a schedule (like regularly), or will they skip several days?Probably not the same bird...and it does look like a toe poke.
You can expect a few or more odd eggs as they get started laying.
Sunday we got a very light colored egg, no egg Monday, Tuesday got a darkish brown egg (I assumed whoever laid the light color egg would have laid yesterday) then today so far got a medium brown egg with spots on it. The one today, was laid by my isa brown/red sexlink, I know it was her because I had caught her on the nest and about 10 minutes later she left the coop (she was the only one in the coop) and there was an egg in the nest. I'm just so glad she laid it in the nest and not on the floor, this one is the first egg that wasn't injured/cracked.
