My chickens hate to be held

how do I get them to like me?
I need quick advice because I need to be able to catch my roo to get a string of of his feet he's been tripping on it!
Just catch him and clip the string off.
Making him like you would take too long.

To catch him, start by getting him into a small space. Herd him into the coop, or bribe him into the coop with food, or walk slowly toward him until he goes into a corner, or put food into a small pen, or any other way of getting him somewhere you can grab him. I usually find it impossible to catch a chicken if it is running around in a large area, so I have learned to get them into a smaller space first.

If you cannot catch him in the daytime, night can be easier because the rooster cannot see enough to get away. But you might need a flashlight, and you might need a chair or a ladder to reach the rafters where he sleeps.

I have 17 chickens and only one enjoys being held and cuddled. She is only that way because I've spent a lot of one-on-one time treating her for medical problems, so time allowed us to bond. However, I've had other chickens in need of long-term medical treatment, and they never bonded with me enough to enjoy being held. You could have hundreds of chickens in your life time and only have 1-2 that are sweet and friendly enough to enjoy cuddles. Just enjoy them for their silly antics, spend lots of time with them, give them treats from your hand, and maybe they will calm down, maybe not, but either way they are still wonderful enjoyable animals.

Yes they are so fun animals to have too bad some people are scared of them🐓
