I have 6 hens and one rooster 20 weeks old, various breeds. Except one RIR they all like to sit in my lap and snuggle for long periods of time. I always sit with a towel over my legs but I have been surprised by the fact that none of them have ever pooped on me since they were 2 or 3 weeks old. They actually jump off, poop, then jump back on. I always thought that chickens couldn’t control when they poop but that is clearly not true. I was wondering if others have witnessed this or maybe it’s because I am crazy enough to sit with my chickens half an hour every day🥴

Same here! I like to imagine mine remember when they were babies and if they pooped on me then I got up to go clean it and no more snuggles! (Until I returned ;)) chickens can however hold it, think about broodies and sitting for So Long then coming outside and unleashing one of those horrid broody poops! It's ducks who I've experienced just Cannot hold it no matter what or where!

I agree! I think we don't give chickens enough credit for how smart they are, what they are able to comprehend and what they can master. They are like peolpe... Train them young in the way they should go!
