My chicks are eating layer feed

I have my chicks (6 weeks old) living inside the coop separated from the grownup chickens. Sometimes they escape into the coop and eat layer food. Is this alright or should I switch the whole flock to grower food?

Switch or confine them better.
6 week old kidneys can't handle 4% calcium.

x2 - you don't want those chicks eating layer feed, not good for them at all because of the excessive calcium. It's not excessive calcium for a hen who lays an egg nearly every day, but it is for chicks.
