My chicks are here.....

My chicks just came today they are so cute. They have water and food. Is there anything else they need?

They are nice and warm in their brooder.

It sounds like you are on your way.

Makes sure they are all eating and drinking, and make sure the brooder temp is good. If they are all running around happy then it is fine. No piling, and no panting. Make sure they have enough room to get away from the heat if needed.

You might think of marbles in the waterer for a week or so to prevent drownings.

They are all running around like crazy. They are all drinking and eating. My brooder is almost 7 ft long. It is 97 on one end and 70 on the other. Thank you for the tip about the marbles. I didn't even think about that.

Just keep an eye out for pasty butt.

I use the quail waterers - they're a smaller/narrower bowl and not big enough for the chicks to fall into and drown. You can get them at any feed store.

I'm jealous -- I wish I had a 7' brooder!!!

Sounds like your doing great! I know that I didn't even have 95 on the first week, more like 90-92 degrees and my babies did well. As long as they have a 70 degree end to run to they will avoid the risk of over heating. Keep the water fresh and cool (they like it cool!) and you will have happy chicks!

So happy for you!! I just loved when mine were babies!! The only suggestions I have are to keep the water clean, & maybe think about giving them something to jump up on...Nothing to tall because they are so small, but my last batch of babies loved an overturned organizer from the dollar store! It just gives them something to do! Also, think about holding them periodically to get them used to you!
