My chicks are postponed again! UPDATE Post 5

They were supposed to be shipped last Tuesday, no word from the breeder(Hodges). I sent an e-mail Wednesday(which was pick up day) and they said they would ship yesterday. Again NO WORD from them...I sent an e-mail and finally heard back this morning that they didn't all hatch and have been set again. AHHHHHHHHH. Now I have to wait another whole hatch.

This totally screws up everything because they were supposed to be here last week and the next batch of chicks didn't come until mid March so that they would be out of the grow up pen and in the outside coop before the next chicks needed the grow out pen. Now we are going to have to get another grow out pen because it's not big enough for them all together! So frustrating!

After all this they better come alive!

It's so frustrating when you're all excited at the prospect of new chicks only to be told you have to wait...again.

Ugh that is SO annoying - any reason you're going with Hodges? I haven't really heard of them before, but it seems pretty poor practice to continually delay an order WITHOUT telling you at the very least. I understand all hatcheries can only base orders on hatch estimates, and if those estimates aren't met then an order can't be fulfilled, but still...that seems pretty crazy. What breeds are you ordering?

So far they were supposed to be shipped Feb. 8th, then Feb. 15th. Then she said they didn't all hatch, so they were reset with and with a 21 day hatch I figured they would be shipped March 8th. All these times I never got an e-mail saying that they weren't coming, I had to keep e-mailing them to hear anything. I finally heard something on March 9th saying they were going to be shipped yesterday and she would email me with a tracking #. Guess what? No email, no tracking number. I sent her another email this morning, this time telling her my DH wants a refund. He is super mad about this. Delays in shipping, bad hatches, all that is understandable, but NOT contacting me and letting me know is unacceptable. So frustrating!

Last summer I let two of my broody hens hatch out EE eggs with brown leghorn dads and one now lays a really pretty robin's egg blue and the other a true olive color.

Went to the post office today to pick up my chicks from meyers hatchery and low and behold my chicks from hodges were there also. No email, no call. I'm glad that's over, I will never buy from them again. Very bad communication.

Shame about the poor communication.
But on the bright side, they did arrive at the same time as your order from Myers.

Good for you and your new brood that you found them. Shame on Hodges for treating those little lives so carelessly. Plenty of other hatcheries with better track records to spend your money on.
