my chicks are dying at around one or two weeks of age. They have a build up of poop on thier rear ends...

That would be pasty butt...it needs to get cleaned off by running their butts under warm water and sometimes if it's bad it takes a few minutes to soften it up. Putting olive oil on the vent when cleaned helps a LOT. They grow out of it in a few weeks. Hope your able to save the others.

Oh and it makes it MUCH easier and faster to wear a rubber glove and work it lose...or a Q tip even if you don't have a glove handy. The glove works best.
ALSO the olive oil should be reapplied day and night
