So I have had an ongoing idea for a coop brewing in my head and we have a great place for it on the side of the house. However yesterday, while watching the rain fall I started taking a better look at the kids playset. It is leaning...quickly becoming outgrown and seldom used. Regardless it needs work...
It occured to me that a great way to build a coop and tighten up the playset would be to do them both at once...
Here is a pic of the set as it stands...
So...I was thinking that I could do a coop on the bottom portion since it is never used which after a small amount of work I can really dress up. Nesting boxes and roosts on the vertical portion (the right side in the photo) and the run in the larger 'cube like' space. We plan on letting the chickens roam the yard from time to time as we are out there a lot so the smaller run shouldn't be a problem and it seems like the solution will fix several problems at once.
Any thoughts or suggestions? Or perhaps someone has converted one of these?
