I’m a first time chicken momma. My husband is building me a beautiful coop. (We’re calling it The Chicken Church!)😂 I need suggestions on sealing/weather proofing and ventilation. And how to make sure to I can keep it warm and properly vented in winter. I’m in Kentucky, so winter could be mild or harsh.. we never know. Thank you so much for your help! 🐓🐣🐥

You could give it some small windows and close them with chicken wire. It should help with both ventilation and light. If you want to be extra fancy, you can also make a small swinging latch to go over the windows out of just a board, hinges, and a lock. Then you can close them up for the night if it's cold, and it'll help discourage predators. Just an idea, though!

Big roof overhangs with open soffit area.
Good for protected venting in winter, they need fresh air all year around.
Might be too late as rafters are already in place.
Lots of top hinged windows for summer.
