My Coop

I’m planning on building a bigger one this spring. Right now I haven’t had any issue. They seem really happy. I do have the food in the run and it just started raining here today. I have a secured tarp over the run now. We worked hard to predator proof the coop and enforcing the coop with 2x4’s.
I’m just so happy that it’s night two that they all went into the henhouse on their own.

That was kind of my situation with the coop. I wanted to get started with having chickens when I finally bought my first house but didn't have a ton of money to spend. I also didn't want to build a big structure in my yard until I knew the chickens were here to stay and I liked having them. Well, you can guess how much I liked having them since I mentioned building a bigger coop.

Congrats on having your chicks using the henhouse! I remember my pride in my girls when each milestone was achieved. Just wait till they start laying!

One thing to note that is a great addition to the new build when you do it...incorporate an automatic chicken pop door. I got the Chicken Guard brand, but there are many available. It is the best thing to happen to my chicken hobby since they started giving me eggs
