My daughter & I are awaiting our 1st chicks!

I am a true 'newbie' and my daughter is too. She has some physical handicaps but one big thing she has going for her is a true love for all animals, and they all seem to love her back! We ordered 8 chicks, 2 each of 4 types. They arrive on March 18th. We have been reading up on all the fabulous tips that the Internet has but this seems to be the best and most friendly site of all!
Wish us luck! (it all sounds a bit scary, keeping the temperature just right and changing the degrees each week, etc) but we will give it our 100%!

Welcome to the forum!!! This is a great site for learning and sharing chicken stories. Hope you have lots of fun with your chicks. The heat lamp just needs to be adjusted a little farther up each week to lower the temp a bit. As long as they have the room to move towards and away from the heat lamp, they can find the temperature that is most comfortable for the moment. You should do just fine.
