Today my oldest daughter said that she wants to show and I got about 3 to 4 years to get her in the right direction. Most of my flock came from the feed store as we just wanting some eggs but did get a couple blue laced red wyandotte which are beautiful...thanks again! Will the BLRW's do good in show or is should I look into a different breed? Thanks

BLRW are a good choice. the birds are calm, they will do fine at local fairs. however it is not an apa recognized color and can't win above best of varitey but that is big shows good luck

That would be a good breed. They wont do well at big show like was said. I would also suggest maybe bantam ameraucanas and bantam cochins. My 11 year old sister man handles ours and they just let her. Its really actually very funny because sometimes they look like they want to be left alone. I would also suggest silkies too they are a good breed.

At what level will she be starting at, 4H or sanctioned shows? 4h shows have slightly "less demanding" restrictions. They center more on the kids work and showmanship than the actual bird itself. Although the more advanced 4H classes are very competitive the beginner classes are more for learning than trophies...Good foundation stock is the best ingredient. Good luck
