I have 18 lav orphington eggs in the bator for 15 days when the electricity went out for 22 hrs.

The eggs were stone cold. Will this delay the hatch or kill the chicks? I have a new shipment of bcm eggs that arrived during the outage waiting for the bator. I don't want to give up on my lavs but this is my second time trying to hatch something and I still haven't gotten a chick. How long can I store the bcm eggs before they are a long shot too. I feel like such a failure.

The new eggs can safely store for a week - but you have to take into account how long they took to get to you too.

The cold eggs - keep going on them & set the new eggs in there with them as a staggered hatch - its not the best but you gotta do what you gotta do.

Your eggs may still be OK - they do much better with cold than hot.

Thanks. I never even though about staggering the hatches. I think I will try. Wish me luck
