my dog killed chicken, help

The dog I referred to earlier in this post was a rescue. I was young, energetic and highly moral when I rescued that dog. I knew she would require a lot of care and she did. That was also back before I had anything to lose should she have gotten away from me and done damage. These days I am busy and have lots to lose should my dogs run off and destroy something belonging to others. I love animals, but I also have my priorities straight. If I have an animal that I cannot invest the resources required to keep it safe, then it will be re-homed or euthanized. I do not hand my problems to others to deal with. If a dog has serious behavioral issues (especially aggression issues) I will not waste my time on it and neither will most shelters these days. It is usually a losing proposition that sucks up valuable resources to no good end. That dog of mine lived out her days and was euthanized when she was riddled with cancer, but she was nasty to the core and could never be trusted to do anything but maim and destroy anything that crossed her path.
Now before you think I don't like rescue dogs, think again. I have a 5 y.o. shepherd cross (feral) rescue who is the best dog in the world. I would trust her with my life, and she has proven her worth again and again. How many dogs like her were lost because all the resources were being pumped into rehabilitating nasty little gems like the first one I mentioned?
I do not believe in euthanizing animals because they can't be trained, but if they have proven themselves to be a menace to others repeatedly then they need to be contained or destroyed. To not do so would be irresponsible and, in some cases, criminal.

~*Sweet Cheeks*~ :

I have three dogs that I would never trust with the chickens.

I keep them in seperate fenced areas.

Good luck to you.
