Yesterday I got home from work and couldn’t find one of my chickens I found it in the cedar tree got her out and was shocked her head and back of neck was completely bloody and raw thought a predator got in the cage put her down and the male duck started chasing her and attacking her it was horrible I had to beat him off of her. Now all were raised as babies 5 months ago I don’t understand why this happened so suddenly my chicken is almost dead any thoughts.

he’s trying to mate with her

It is important to separate that drake immediately!!

Roosters do not have the same anatomy as a drake. Your drake can kill a chicken when mating with them.
that’s true, but i would like to add it’s possible to keep drakes and chickens together. my boys are being petsit, and they are living with hens and guinea fowl. they do not see the chickens as mates, since they were not raised together, and basically ignore them

How old are yours now?

I didn't say it is not possible to keep them together. I believe the OP needs to separate that particular drake from the chickens as he has shown he can and will attempt to mate them.

mine are 1 year and 3 months old. but they didn’t meet the chickens until a few months ago when we brought them over to their petsitters house. once we move, i think we will get some of our own hens next year (if course separating if we have any problems, but we are gonna keep just one drake and get him some girls so i don’t think there would be a problem)
