My Duck does not know how to quack

I bought a baby chicken and felt sorry for her because she was lonely so I bought a duckling. The 2 are about 9 weeks old and the duck now speaks chicken-doesn't quack.What is up with that?

You probably have a male duck. The males don't quack, they make a distinctly different raspy sort of noise that gradually evolves as they get older. You could have some interesting dynamics between your little chicken hen and your drake as they get older.

What breeds are they?
