This is the duck house I built two years ago. Most all the material was free and collected over several years. I had built a couple playhouses years ago so became pretty good at scrounging up remodeling leftovers and dump diving. The walls are pallet wood and the decorative tin roof peak is off our house's original roof. The front door is made to open up both ways so that I can get in it if I have to. Total height is about 7 foot at the peak so I can stand straight in the middle.

The back has a full width hinged opening for cleaning. I put a piece of linoleum over the floor and can just slide it out in one piece to replace the bedding. The design idea may have come from here... I collected random pictures of different coops for a year before deciding which one to try building. If it's similar to yours, thank you for the great ideas!!

There are gaps between the pallet board siding that should keep it ventilated really well. At the back where that full width hinged opening is, it has a solid backing behind it but I figured that may help this winter as a wind block as the back faces northwest. There is a small window in the eave on the back side as well. I live in Kansas so high winter winds can be a problem. From what I understand, ducks do well in cold weather? They don't spend any time in it unless they feel threatened or I lock them in at night. I'm hoping by the end of next week to have the netting all installed on top of the pen and not have to lock them up in the house at night.

Yes, my ducks prefer to stay outdoors even when it's well below zero Fahrenheit. They are quite hardy!
