My Duck Pen

I used a 5x7 foot Dog Kennel with a Chain Link Roof. Underneath is hardware cloth over 1 inch of gravel with a 3/4 inch rubber mat on top of that gravel, this makes it super easy to clean.

Hardware cloth you can see up 24" and the Dog House where the Ducks sleep is on the outside of the pen with an opening cut out so the ducks can enter the house. The house is anchored to the ground, and also screwed to the chain link fence.

Only two ducks living in there a Cayuga and a Swedish, they were sleeping in the house when that pic was taken.

For winter I am adding electric to the dog house for heat with a heated water bowl. The pool will not be in there in the winter. They are under a deck so they are protected pretty well from the overall elements, and the back of the doghouse is facing into the area that this home gets all of the wind.
