My duckling has a deformed foot!

My duck just hatched last night and it's foot is curled up and it flops around. The other foot is normal. Is there anything you can do?? Thanks!!

I would wait until tonight and then reevaluate the foot. I've had ducklings hatch before and thought for sure they had foot problems... Turned out they just needed a bit more time to relax from their tightly curled up shell position.

If it is still curled up tonight you might consider fitting him with a prosthetic boot to help train his foot to position itself properly. I know it can be done with chicks; I assume it can be done for ducklings too.

Its something you'll have to make... I'm having the same problem with a silkie chick, and someone on here posted that I should use those corn/bunion pads, put the foot on the sticky side, and tape over to make a shoe... I have this on our chick now, I used the pads and medical tape..

UPDATE: My ducks foot looks alot better but it sort of sticks out the back.
Any idea???
