Hi
ive got 2 breeds of duckling eggs and so far ive had 1 infertile 1stolen and 1 dead hatching. On day 28 i got 1 duckling and its fine so far. But ive got my other breed and its day 31 and its not hatched. Ive wrapped it in a warm damp cloth but dont know if its done anything yet. Is my duckling okay? Is this normal? They are also under a broody hen
thanks if you reply

What breed is the other one you are still waiting for? If it's Muscovy then they typically take 35 days to hatch. If it's any other domestic breed, 28 days is the norm, but sometimes they are a little late. Have you candled the egg to see if it's still alive in there? One of my Cayuga cross ducklings hatched on day 32 and was totally fine and normal. I think it was due to slightly varying temps on different sides of my incubator, though. Anyway, I would candle and see if you can see any movement going on inside (like it pushing on the air cell).

Hi yes there is movement in the egg i can see where it is trying to break the air sack but its not quite managed. The breed is also a runner duck. Will the time difference be because its under a broody hen? Ive put a warm damp cloth around it.
Thanks
