So, I have three female Cayuga, and one Buff and they have suddenly just stopped laying. They are all a year and 2 months. I know that ducks are supposed to be more consistent layers then chickens, so I am very surprised that they just stopped. Does heat affect their laying? I also have a male cayuga and a male buff.

They had been very consistent. We had a couple dozen in the fridge. It just seems strange that they just all stopped at once.

Hey there, yes heat does affect laying. As does light, interruptions, over crowding, molting, dirty living conditions, change in feed or water, bullying, lack of sense of security, over aggressive drakes, or odd ratio of drakes to ducks. Depends on the situation, but my ducks have recently slowed/stopped laying and I was trying to figure it out myself. I changed their food suddenly, which could have contributed, but I've noticed a ton of feathers and believe some of my ducks are going through a molt of sorts.

Good luck!

Okay. I am pretty sure it is heat then. We are in East Tennessee and the temperature has been in the 90s the last few weeks and the humidity is just as hot.

We have them sorted out with the male Cayuga with a female and the buff make with the three other females. We actually just got one giant egg from the one female. So hopefully they will pick back up.:)

Nice! Good to hear production is picking up again! I hope everything smoothes out for you!
