I just got six new ducks. At their last home they were each laying about 1 egg per day. 6 total. A few of them started brooding. When I brought them here to my house (their new home) I only got 3 eggs the first day. At first I thought maybe it's because one of them was injured or maybe it was because they were brooding earlier. The next day, I got two eggs. I though maybe it was just stress from moving. The next day I woke up and found 1 egg. I thought maybe they're all starting to molt and I just can't find the feathers. Today, there were no eggs. Not one. What could this be. They seem to have gotten used to the new place. They have even taken a liking to me (they follow me around instead of running away). I've ruled out the idea of them hiding eggs because they live in a fairly small house with little to no places to hide the eggs, except for the small nesting box I made. Why aren't they laying any eggs!!!??? It's mid summer here and they are just over a year old. Khaki Campbells is the breed. They're each on a diet of 1/2 cup chicken feed (I couldn't get duck feed yet. But I will today) and an all you can each buffet of kale, swiss chard, snails and grass. Plus anything else I throw in their throughout the day. I don't think they're too fat either. You can look at my profile picture to judge that. Please let me know if I'm doing anything wrong or just why they aren't laying.
