I placed some BCM hens and a roo in with my dwarf goat to keep him company, for his brother was killed. Plus, I wanted this roo with these hens for breeding purposes. I Only wish I had a camera when I fed everyone this morning. The hens have been laying in the goat shelter, so what do I see when I went I looked in, the goat laying on the eggs. I thought they would be lost. As the goat got up he did it gently and step all around them. The stranges thing I have seen in awhile. If I didn't know better, I would have thought the hens were giving him lessons in being broody. Only all these eggs go to the incubator. Will take the camera with me for the next couple of feedings. Maybe I can capture him on film.

That's sweet!!! My chihuahua (who is a neutered male) LOVES LOVES LOVES babies ~ any kind of baby!! We always give him the sick and/or abandon kittens and he takes to them like a serogate mom and the babies always end up just fine in his care. He will clean them, keep them warm and even carefully carry them from room to room. He has even been known to "steal" kittens from the mom cat if babies have been born in the house. Hatching chicks in the house has really sent his mothering instincts into overload. He will sit next to the table that the bator is on and shake from the first peep until I move them into the brooder. If he gets into the brooder room in the house he will just lay as close to the babies as he can get & good luck getting him to leave. He hasn't figured out how to carry a chick yet ~ which is probably a blessing.

Animals make life interesting!
