I haven't been on in a while we are all worried about my daughter and granddaughter who are all in Japan my daughter is married to an airman who are high school sweet hearts and neighbors. Obama still has not given the OK for civilians to get off base.

I find the whole thing devastating and I understand that my SIL is an Airman and has a job to do!! I don't understand why he is letting civilian sons, daughters and children sit in radiation when they could be getting them out.

I feel so helpless and can only pray my family is safe in this disaster My SIL daughter and granddaughter we in downtown Tokyo when the earth quake hit and were stuck down town with just enough money to get back on the train. They had there bank card but no atm's were working. Lucky enough a family (strangers) from the American consulate helped them feed them and gave them shelter. Till another airman (friend) rescued them.Thank God for great friends and good hearted strangers.

On this same night my youngest daughter was in a terrible car accident and I found out about the earth quake standing in the ER!! Will this week ever end. Hoping and praying for all the families and love ones in Japan. I know there are lots of families worrying about there sons and daughters also

Can they fly out on civilian airplanes? Get transport to Tokyo and go from there?

I see the pics of the devastation there and now with the radiation on top of that... and the 'cloud' is drifting towards the U.S... .just makes a person worry sick.

I can't even begin to imagine the logistics involved with aid flying in. Are commercial flights even allowed?

I've been praying for as much of a positive resolution on varioius Japan emergencies and tragedies several times a day. Scary scary stuff.

I would call my U.S. Congressman and ask to be updated hourly. If you can reach them by email, remind them to take their shoes off OUTSIDE if possible and be sure and wash their hands after being outside. Dust and smoke debris lands on anything, including your car - same as if you touched the ground with your hands. When they get home, they'll want to eat a diet rich in selinium and include zinc, bee pollen, sprouts and fermented whole grains. We probably won't feel any effects from the radiation leaks here on the mainland US, but its a good idea to do things that are healthy, anyway. (I'm sure there are worse pathogens floating around in our air, and, we are exposed to low level radiaion every day. I'm so sorry your family is going through this. I'll say an extra prayer for them and picture them home, safe and healthy.

There airports are down but my daughter is on the biggest airbase in Japan and they could fly in commercial planes.
The shoe thing is a good idea but they have found radiation in the water

Yep, I'm sure its in just about everything by now in the surrounding areas of the nuclear plants.

Live enzymes, like in miso, will help and the iodine in sea veggies will help, too. Our bodies are like a big sponge with a tube that goes all the way though. If we can keep toxins off of us and 'out' of us, all the better. If we get toxins in us, we have filtering organs that remove the toxins and we excrete them as fecies, urine, sweat, mucus and sometimes blood. In my opinion (and I am not a doctor of anything, just someone that pays attention to how things work), the better we take care of our bodies when there is an attack on them, the better our tissues can repair themselves. Here's a list of what I think would be helpful:

1. Eat foods with live enzymes; sprouts, fermented foods - make your own
2. Make a tea with liver supporting herbs that contain selenium like horsetail, nettle, oat straw, dandelion (yes, dandelion leaves) and peppermint for taste.
3. Eat garlic (raw), sea vegetables, bee pollen and include foods with vitamin C
4. Take a good mineral supplement that includes zinc
3. Use aloe vera or a protective oil on your skin. Jojoba would be a good choice of oil because its actually a wax
4. If you have to be outside, take a shower and change your clothes when you come inside.
5. Pray or relax and daydream that your body is in perfect working order. Be thankful for what you have.

This is wonderful information, I just want to make sure that these are all ok while pregnant, since I read that your daughter is 8 months pregnant. Although at that far along the baby is fully developed and only gaining weight, there ARE things that can aid in inducing labor, and you wouldnt want her to go in to labor early. Some tea especially can aid in inducing labor. Bee Pollen I think is also a No No, at least I know natural honey is. I want to say nettle isnt good either? Not positive on that one.

I'm a new mommy, so you can see where my priorities are!
