Okay, I have a favorite, dont tell my other girls.
We have 3 black australorps (older by 3 weeks), 2 jersey giants, a buff orph, a rhodie, a maran, and a EEA.....
The jerseys are very distant, the younger gals are still teenagers and about to lay.....so naturally my australorps are at the top of the "pecking order"
Boatsnack (my girl, the head of the australorps and the flock) is the queen. She follows me everywhere and lets me take her in the car and pick her up one handed......
If I touch or hold another hen, she will come and attack them..... I mean, rip holes in the back of their heads.....almost killed my rhodie.
She has become better lately because I am aware of the look she gets when I pick up another hen..... she stares them down and moves in...... I immediately grab her beak and tell her sternly.... NOOOO..... she backs off but within 20-30 seconds she has the death glare again.....
I am about to put them all in a large coop with run i about a month..... I dont want her to kill my younger girls.....but no matter how much I threaten her, telling her I will make chicken stew, she is still relentless.
Any tips??
