My female pekin duck was sitting on her fertilized eggs for about 2 weeks when they all of a sudden started disappearing. We started to find the shells all over the yard. I would assume the male was eating them. She was extremely protective of them though and I don't think he had much of a chance to get into them because she almost never left them. Finally after the last of the four she was sitting on was demolished, she started hanging out again with the male in the yard, but she has begun to look very sick... her feathers on her wings are coming out somehow and the areas are all red, she has a bald spot on the back of her neck where the male likes to tug when he's mounting her, and she hasn't laid a single egg since she started sitting on the four she had. She won't get into their pool, only enjoys the water when I spray them with the hose. I don't know what to do!!! Please help!!! I would prefer an email since I am new to this forum and probably will forget my password fairly quickly! lol If anyone has any ideas, you can email me at [email protected]. Thank you

For your duck, she might be injured from whatever took ehr eggs. I would separate her from the male. She is likely stressed.

Check her carefully for injuries..under wings, etc.

I will seperate them. She does have an older injury to one of her legs, but while sitting on her eggs, she was healing up great, but now she's limping again but not nearly as bad. I am giving her antibiotics that the vet prescribed, but... I will get them away from each other for a while and see what happens.
