I decided I’d like to have some darth Vader buttons, and just before my predator massacre I ordered some eggs. They arrived today and boy are they small! They all seem intact and Uncracked, I’ll candle tonight when it gets dark. I had emptied the brinsea in anticipation of the buttons and I planned to move one color to the nr360 at lockdown to keep them separate. But you know what happens to the best laid plans, and I ended up setting every celadon egg I had left after the incident. I set up the nr360 this morning, the eggs are resting now in spare brinsea trays, and I’ll set them tomorrow.

I ordered 18 darth Vader/ red breasted eggs, and 18 blue face. 2 of the blue face eggs are blue, and I’ll be hatching them in a strawberry container if they develop. I’d like to see what comes from them. Some people say the blue eggs are just normal eggs laid from older birds, but other people claim it’s like celadon. Anyway, I’m really excited, and I could not be happier with the service. I ordered them from zebrafinch.com, and it has been a perfect experience so far. He answered my email right away, he accomodated all of my requests, and was super fast. I emailed him Saturday, went back and forth with some questions, and ordered them that night. Today is Wednesday and they already arrived! As long as the proper colors hatch, I’ll be super happy! This has been as pleasant and hassle free so far, as my k dales. It has also been really good for my mental health, since I’ve been trying to focus on these eggs, and not the loss of all my snowie celadons.

Heyya. I can confirm that the blue outer color is genetic. One of my 6 breeding hens lays blue eggs. They are from 4 different breeders, all hatched this spring. The colors are pretty consistent from a single bird, I can tell them apart by 'large taupe speckled' versus 'small slate' or 'blue' or 'tiny brown heavily speckled'.
