so I had 14 chickens. I had 2 polish chickens(the ones with the fuzzy faces as adults) Well I had 2 of them in with my other 12, they were a bit smaller but not too bad, they had been together about 10 days and well, I go to give them water and feed and he was squished.. flat.. I couldn't believe the other chickens were able to crush him so much. Anyways, should I be concerned for my other little one? Should I take him out and put him in a separate, smaller brooder? Anyways, what a bummer, poor little chicken.

Yes!!!!!! Take the other little one out unless you want another crushed one!!! Do you have a rabbit huch??? That would work!!!

It will depend if the others are stepping on it. I have 5 week olds with a 1.5 week old and it's going well. The 5 week olds are much bigger then the baby. They do not step on her. If you separate the chick you may need to get a friend for it. They get pretty lonely alone.

Well I went out to my local feed store and purchased another baby chick of the breed that got trampled, still feel bad about the first one but my new one is sure cute. I also bought a buff orpington that was around the same size as my 12 day old birds. He is getting along well with the other ones. I moved the two little ones into the new brooder.

It was pretty bizzare, today we are having the family easter egg hunt, all the little ones came over to hunt plastic eggs with candy while my brother and cousins and I watched the trail blazers beat dallas (woohoo!) Anyways I took the kids down to look at the baby chicks and there was one crushed to death, the kids gasping and freaking out about it.. sheesh. Poor little ones, I'll be sure to check on them before I show the kids next time!
