After Hurricane Ike hit us, we went around picking up old fence pieces from people, didn't know what we wanted it for, but thought it would come in handy.
It did...we built a coop, from just surfing on line real quick came up with this idea, and we were in heaven...after seeing the beautiful one's in here...forget mine!!!!

Here it is, its old pieces of fence, and a dog kennel we werent using either. It has chicken wire on top to keep them in, and chicken wire around 1/2way down to keep what we can out, a fence door we keep open so when its cold or storms we close it, and 4 double nest boxes insides with stairs for roosting places. The top front of it, is all chicken wire for air moment. DH is a genius!

you can see trash fencing we used in back ground, they also can go under the coop for shelter. Its located under 3 heavy shaded trees, but sun comes in at an angle so I use a tarp on the side at times.

It looks great. My son built one out of pallets that has that rustic look as well. To me a coop is beautiful if it securely keeps the chickens safe from predators, and gives them a place out of the weather. Slap some googed paint on it and it will look better tahn some or as good as many. I athink you did a great job inrecycling. Micki

Fantastic!! I love it...my coop is made from recycled board fencing...I love the rustic look, and best of all, my flock seems to like it pretty well too.

I think it looks great, and you get an A+++ for recycling materials! Wish I had one that looked that good. As long as the chickens are happy, though...

All of you are so Kind!!!...and I thank you very much...I guess your right, as long as its safe and my chickens like it, and there protected. I never thought I would own chickens..thought they were bad smelling and ugly...now I talk to them, and pet them...and try to find ways to make it cozy for them...Ive gone nuts!!!
