My first coop!

We started in on our first coop! We have 9 chicks that will be 2 weeks old tomorrow. We live in the Arizona desert, so we're building for hot hot summers and mild, dry winters. So far we've cleared and leveled the area, and started laying the cinder block foundation. Here we go!

The coop is finally ready for the ladies to move in! Still needs some finishing touches, and the roosts need to be installed, plus a storage shelf for me. But it's mostly done, and the chicks seem to love it! They'll be here for the next week or so while I work on their yard.

We used cinder blocks filled with dirt. Simple simple. It's in a very flat, protected area of the yard, so we figured that would do just fine. The floor is dirt.
