I told my wife I wanted chickens, she looked at me a little funny but with that ok grin. So three weeks later the coop is built, nesting boxes built, feeders hanging and full of food and water, wood shavings on the floor and I'm on my way to pic up my first nine chickens I'm buying from a seller on craigs list. I bought 6 white rock hens and white rock roosters. They were all from the original hatching so I decided to keep them together, the seller said they just started laying.
I've been collecting one egg a day except for this last tuesday, so I've been saving them for this mornings very first freshly layed egg breakfast. Wow, those eggs had big deep yellow yokes, a much better egg than store bought. I compaired my hens egg to the size of a store bought large egg, my hens was bigger!!
This morning I let my chickens out to free range and one of my hens came out from under the nesting boxes so I bent over and looked and found an egg, so I reached over and picked it up and noticed it was still warm, when I put it in the egg carton I noticed it was a darker brown and slightly smaller then the eggs I've been getting, so that tells me I now have 2 hens laying!!

I'll never eat another store bought egg again, I'm hooked!!
